singular by syntax is a Fort Worth–based small business that makes custom, unique embroidered apparel. Every piece ships with a certificate of authenticity. When a design sells out, it is never sold again.

started by friends

singular by syntax began with a group of friends and a fairly ordinary complaint: the shirts that felt good to wear said nothing, and the shirts that said something rarely felt good on. Nothing on the rack managed both at once, so we made our own.

That is still the entire thought. Extremely comfortable t-shirts you can reach for without thinking. Unique because no design is ever repeated. Also, minimal enough to wear with anything — one small word embroidered with thread.

designs are all unique

Every purchase ships with a certificate of authenticity. It records the word embroidered on the chest — and once a design sells out, it is never sold again.

Embroidery is slower than printing and costs more to do well. We think the difference is the whole point — thread holds its shape, keeps its colour, and outlasts any print.

There is one exception. The singular shirt represents the brand itself, so it is deliberately never retired.
